Soccer practice begins (with just a few setbacks)!

Well, Carter's big day finally got here on Thursday...his first soccer practice. This is his first sport or team he has ever played on. He has been talking about soccer for days, weeks, months and quite possibly years. It is not so much the sport of soccer that he is excited about...he is excited about playing any sport. Since he was born, Walden has taken him to see any sporting event he can get tickets for as well as consistently turning on ESPN at any given opportunity. Most babies/toddlers watch Baby Einstein. But oh no...not us...ESPN is what mesmerizes Carter. He still prefers baseball and football but soccer is definitely in the picture right now.

Anyway, practice was at 6:00pm Thursday night... about 5:45pm the rain started to pour down!!! Don't get me wrong, I am VERY thankful for the rain because we definitely need it. But it wasn't easy telling a 3 1/2 year old he may not have soccer practice on the day we promised. We decided to go on over to the field because it looked as though the rain wouldn't last long. By the time we got there, this is what I discovered....

He was easy to wake once we got there and it actually had not begun to rain in that part of town. Most of the players did not come due to the weather, but two other players did come (Rafe White, Cory & Mandi White's son, and Hudson Brannon, Van & Kenna Brannon's son). We only stayed for about 15 minutes before the rain begain. Carter was bashful the whole 15 minutes we were there so it might have been a good thing that we weren't there for too long. It was sort of a good introduction to the field, some team mates and the shin guards (he finds them very uncomfortable). Now, he knows what to expect when we go back on Monday (pray for no rain just from 6-7:00pm).
