Sunday: Walden, the kids and I took the boat out to Lake Keowee for the day. The lake was beautiful but, boy, was it crowded and rough!!! We stayed long enough to have a boat ride, eat a few sandwichs and swim in a cove. We decided it was just too crowded so we headed home. After enjoying some down-time, we all took baths and had a family night out and went to Stax Omega. I know it isn't the most fancy place in the world but it is our new favorite place to take the kids. We got seated right beside the fish tank and the kids watched the colorful fish the entire time! It was the calmest dinner we have ever had! The moral of the story...if anyone wants entertainment while eating...take the kids to Stax!
Monday: We enjoyed our friends, The Smiths, who came over for the day to swim and cookout at my parent's house (they are gone on a cruise). It was so relaxing and the boys played wonderfully!
Tuesday: We loaded up the kids and headed to Atlanta. We had a ball going to the Mall of Georgia to ride the carousel and shop at some fun toy stores. That evening we took the kids to a Japanese restuarant (their first trip)...another entertaining meal. Carter had 100,000 questions after we left ("why did that man throw an egg in his hat?", "why did that man cook in front of us", "why did he make a fire?") but he loved every minute of it...especially the rice! After dinner we headed to a neat bowling alley for Carter's first time in bowling. I think he found a new passion in life! The child actually beat me (and I was trying my best...it wasn't like I was letting him!). Then, we ended the night with our usually trip of walking around Bass Pro for Walden to get his dose of checking out the latest hunting and fishing accessories. However, we have now added strolling down the watersports aisles. The finale of the evening was getting ice cream at Brewsters before heading to the hotel. If you know Walden, a good day has to end in a big helping of ice cream :)! Here are some pictures for you to enjoy from Day 3 of "Stay-cation 2008"....

Wednesday: The kids went to sleep without a fight in the hotel room Tuesday night, to say the least, since we had such an action-packed day. However, Eliza woke up with a stomach virus and was up most of the night. Carter never even stirred during all of the action. She did start to feel better once we all got up and going for the day. We went to the Georgia Aquarium and had an AMAZING time! This was the perfect time of year to go because all schools are in session now and it is too early for field trips to be planned. There was not a crowd so we were able to go through and enjoy the exhibits up close. The 3D movie was pretty cool...although Carter was not too sure about the shark (cartoon) who looked like he was coming out to get him. We highly enjoyed the aquarium and would recommend it to everyone. Carter loved the penguins and Eliza loved the gift shop! After leaving the aquarium, we went to lunch at Johnny Rockets across the street and then walked around the Olympic park. Here are some photos from the day.

Thursday: We decided to take it a little easy since we have been on the go the last few days. Day 5 of "Stay-cation" activities for us included going to get pizza for lunch then going to the Humane Society in Greenville to look at all the adorable puppies and kittens. Eliza loved them all...I think she would have taken every one of them if she could. Carter just liked looking at them...from a distance. I am upset because I forgot my camera today and I could have gotten some really cute pictures. Oh well, I am sure we will be back seeing as how we know what makes Eliza the happiest! Tonight Carter had soccer practice. They scrimmaged another team....what a hoot! Trying to get a bunch of three-five year olds to comprehend they need to stay on the field, not come talk to their mommies and daddies, kick one ball between ALL of them, not sit on one end of the field while the others are playing on the other end, kick the ball in one goal and block the ball from going in the other goal is a real challenge. But, it sure was cute watching them!
Friday: Today we went to Sky Top Apple Ochard in Hendersonville, NC. The weather was BEAUTIFUL! We came home with some apples but a lot of apples were tasted by one of us at all times. We had lunch in Hendersonville and came home to play outside. This truly has been the best week our family has ever had....Walden and I are so thankful for our two wonderful children. We are already thinking of ideas for "Stay-cation 2009"! (By the way, Carter got a haircut before we left for Hendersonville, NC...hence his spiked hairstyle for the day :)!)

Looks like your week was a blast filled with lots of smiles, laughter, and great memories. Just goes to show you can stay in your backyard and have a blast. And a lot less stress!
